Make it Monday #8 Ink Blending Techniques

This week's MIM challenge is to use ink blending techniques. I've used the blending tool to blend in color from the edges of a card before but haven't really blended from the middle so I decided to try that this time.

I blended in three different colors of ink and then stamped and embossed the Dot Spot images. I added a banner and sentiment and done. Quick and simple card.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink
Stamps: Dot Spot, Mat Stack 4 Collection
Inks: Colorbox Frost White, Stampin' Up! Pink Passion, Only Orange, Green Galore
Embossing Powder: Stampendous
Adhesives: 3L, EK Success

No Frills here...

There's a Masculine Color Trends challenge over at the Embellish Magazine blog. I was in need of a "manly" card so I thought I'd try and play along. I combined it with Sketch 211 at CPS.

Here are the inspiration photos:

I inked the edges of the patterned paper to distress and make the grey a closer match. The grid pattern was stamped on the red square of paper. It came together really easily...especially since there were no flowers, sparkle or ribbons!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned paper: KI Memories
Stamps: Inkadinkado, Studio 112
Ink: Memento London Fog
Tools: Blending tool
Adhesives: 3L, EK Success

Cheery Daisies

Here's another entry into the MIM #7 challenge over at PTI.

I'm so excited to have my first Anya stamp from The Greeting Farm! I have been wanting some of those stamps forever! So of course I had to jump right in and play! This week's FFF challenge is Spring Break. I used one of the Miss Anya stamps to make a nice Spring scene.

I was also inspired by this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge #104. These cupcakes have some fun bright Spring flowers decorating them. Love it!

Make it Monday #7

The MIM challenge at PTI this week is to use Copics on non-neutral cardstock.

I don't have any colorable images in any of my PTI stamp sets, so I used this rose and stamped it on Pure Poppy and New Leaf cardstock and colored it with Copics. It really pops against the cream and blue (Yay! The Doily die finally arrived!). I also stamped one of the new Fillable Frames additions onto Aqua Mist and colored it with Copics too.

I really like the depth the Copic markers gave the images stamped on colored cardstocks...I'll definitely have to use this technique more often.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI Pure Poppy, New Leaf, Aqua Mist
Patterned Paper: K&Company
Stamps: PTI Fillable Frames Additions #1, Studio 112
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Tea Dye Duo
Die: PTI Parisien Lace Doily, Spellbinders
Markers: Copics
Pearls: Martha Stewart
Misc: Pop dots, ribbon

Cheerful Thanks

There's been a lot of yellow inspiration challenges lately. It must be Spring! This bright and cheery card was inspired by the Cupcake Inspirations photo below:

So much spring goodness! Here's what I came up with.

I used a scrap of daisy vellum for the background. I didn't want to cover up the vellum so I drew rounded rectangles with a white gel pen so it would follow sketch #210 at CPS.

Have a great day everyone!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill, PTI
Patterned Paper: vellum from scraps
Stamps: Stampin' Up!, Hero Arts
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Tea Dye Duo, Colorbox Chalk Ink

Citrus-y Birthday

While I was putting the baby to sleep tonight the wheels started turning for this card inspiration. Since seeing this week's Tuesday Trigger photo at the Moxie Fab World and stumbling upon A Case Study's blog I had to try and get this done tonight.

The photo isn't the greatest since daylight is gone for today. I have been dying to use my new Fabulous Flourish stamp and the Tim Holtz rosette die. It all came together in a fun way with these colors.

This week's Tuesday Trigger is this bright colorful photo:

I just love the fun colors!

And this is the Muse for A Case Study:

That's all for today! Gotta get this posted!

Make It Monday #6 and Tuesday Trigger: Button Button

This week's MIM challenge at PTI is to use Impression Plate tricks. I don't have any PTI impression plates yet, so I used a Quickutz embossing folder. The grey circle on top of the new doily diecut (yay! it finally arrived) is half embossed as well as the white background.

I got the color inspiration from this week's Tuesday Trigger: Button Button.

I just love the crisp and clean feeling this picture invokes. Thanks for looking!

Fairy friend

Lately I've been trying to color as many different kinds of images with Copics as I can to challenge myself. I just got a new set of clear stamps from Inkadinkado that feature fairies. The Copic Creations challenge right now is to use blues. I only have a few blue Copics, but thought she might look nice in blues.

She's supposed to be flying across a moon, but it might look more like the sun. Hah hah!

I'm also entering this into the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge #109  to use butterflies and the sketch challenge at One Crazy Stamper.

Here's the sketch:

Life Happens...

For the CPS Sketch #208 this week I dug through some of my scraps to find some colors that coordinated. I found these bright papers from years ago that all came in a pack. For the life of me I can't remember who makes them. Anywhoo...

I knew I wanted to use my new PTI banner builder dies and the stamp set so I made a banner for the corner and turned one into a party hat. I've also started using my MS glitter set more. I tried stamping with a glue pad and then sprinkling with glitter. It worked to adhere the glitter, but the detail in the stamps is hard to see. It still looks pretty and sparkly though!

Cardstock: Bazzill

Make it Monday, Tuesday Trigger

It's a busy week over here...Mardi Gras was Tuesday so there have been parades all weekend. So with all that's been going on, I haven't been too inspired. To help jump start my creativity, I decided to try the Make it Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink and the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger together.

The MIM challenge is to distress edges. Usually, I'm not really into distressing edges with scissors, sand paper, etc, but I took the challenge to step out of my comfort zone.

The Tuesday Trigger over at the Moxie Fab World is this gorgeous photo:

I love the color combination in the photo...so soft and pretty.

Here's what I came up with...

I used some chipboard shapes I had in my stash and distressed the edges of the bird with some scissors. I love how it kind of gives the bird some "feathers". For the background pattern I inked the stamp with three different chalk ink colors to give it a soft colored effect. All the edges were distressed with PTI Chamomile ink. I stamped the sentiment on a transparency sheet so it wouldn't cover up any of the chipboard elements and used the white ink to distress the edges so it would stand out a bit.

Thanks for looking!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Stamps: Inkadinkado Bold Damasks, PTI Dot Spot, Think Big Favorites #1
Ink: Versa Magic Chalk Ink, Brilliance Moonlight White, Papertrey Ink Chamomile
Spritz: Smooch Spritz
Fibers: Making Memories, Wrights
Punch: Martha Stewart
Brads: K & Company
Misc: Chipboard, transparency sheet

Stamping with Shimmer Sprays Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

I am finally using some of my Smooch Spritzes and I love it! It is messy and I have to figure out the right amount of pressure to spray what I want, but I'm enjoying the learning process. Moxie Fab World is having a Stamping with Shimmer Sprays Challenge so I set up a spray station and started to play. My first attempt at doing something innovative did not work on the type of stamp that I was using, so I sprayed grungeboard instead.

Here is my result. The sprayed flourishes border a watercolor effect stamped layered image.

Details:
Cardstock: Bazzill, Canson watercolor paper
Stamps: Hero Arts, Stampin Up!
Ink: Versamark; Stampin Up! Orchid Opulence, Pixie Pink, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore; Distress Ink Peeled Paint

Misc: Spray bottle

Copic Creations Challenge No. 45 - Complementary Colors and Stamping with Markers

I've just started trying out my new copic markers and saw a challenge over at Copic Creations to use complementary colors. I've got a limited amount of copic colors to choose from as I slowly build my creation, but I did have violet and yellow colors to work on this challenge.

I'm also entering this into the Stamping with Markers challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Cardstock: Bazzill, Papertrey Ink
Stamps: Stampin Up!, Hero Arts

Paper Piecing Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and CPS sketch #207

There's a paper piecing challenge over at the Moxie Fab World. I've paper pieced die cuts before, but never thought to paper piece stamped images. I thought I'd make this into a cute little birthday card with the fun presents that have been paper pieced. There's also a small peek through window that shows the sentiment.

This card is also being entered into the CPS Sketch #207 challenge.

Cardstock: Me & My Big Ideas, Bazzill
Stamps: Just for Fun, Hero Arts
Patterned Paper: K & Company

Tuesday Trigger

This weeks Tuesday Trigger is this photo of a yellow door. I love the clean and simple lines and the tiny hint of pink and green in the flower in the vase.

I was inspired to try out my new Smooch Spritzes and made a tissue paper flower out of yellow tissue paper. Although the spritzing came out darker than I had envisioned...it still looks pretty. A pretty stamped swirl echoes the drape of the flower in the photo.

Details:
Cardstock: Bazzil
Patterned Paper: Making Memories
Stamps: Hero Arts Messages, Inkadinkado (swirl)
Punches: Martha Stewart, EK Success
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Ink Peeled Paint

Misc: Tissue paper

Look what just arrived...

My order from Jimmy Beans Wool came a few days ago. Ever since Izzy was born I haven't had a chance to knit anything. All my dreams of making cute little knit dresses and sweaters went out the door when the reality of her colicky crying and my exhaustion just kept going and going. I did try to make a tiny little red shrug for her for Christmas. It would have been super cute, but after I had knit twentyish rows and realized I had forgotten to do a whole line about 15 rows back, I gave that up. My sleep deprivation won out.

So most of the emails I've gotten from JBW have just been deleted since then. Last week though I just so happened to open one and HAD to make a cute short sleeved cardigan. WHAT am I thinking? I still don't have time to do it, but I'm going to try. The gorgeous yarn is waiting to be transformed from hanks into center pulled balls. One step at a time...I might not get to wear it this season, but I'm gonna try and work on it a little at a time.

Make it Monday #4

It's a new Make it Monday challenge over at Papertrey Ink this week. The challenge this time is to use fun foam in some sort of way. I used the smalled die from PTI's Beautiful Blooms II #1 die set to cut out three flowers from a sheet of silver glittery fun foam. The die cut through the foam like butta... I'll have to remember to use some craft foam more often!

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Lavender Moon and True Black
Stamps: PTI Think Big Favorites #1, Inkadinkado (dots)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Punch: Martha Stewart
Die: PTI Beautiful Blooms II #1
